What We Believe
- We believe that the Bible is God’s Word.
- It is inspired by God and is without error, the revealing of His mind and will to mankind. It is totally sufficient as our guide for salvation and for living the Christian life
- Mark 7:13 ; Mark 7:13 ; 2 Peter 1:21
- 2 Timothy 3:15-1 ; Titus 1:2
- We believe in one God.
He is the Creator of everything and has always existed in three equal persons – Father, Son, and Holy Spirit – Called the Trinity.
- We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ is God.
He is both truly God and truly human. He was born of a virgin. After living a perfect and sinless life on earth He died to pay the penalty for mankind’s sin, was buried, physically rose again, and ascended to God’s right hand, where He is today.
- Matthew 1:18-25 ; John 1:1,14,18 ; Acts 2:22
- 1 Corinthians 15:1-8 ; 2 Corinthians 5:21 ; 1 John 3:5
- Hebrews 7:26 ; Hebrews 9:14 ; Hebrews 10:12-13
- We believe in the person and work of the Holy Spirit.
The Holy Spirit is active in regeneration, indwelling, and giving spiritual gifts to every believer. - Titus 3:7 ; John 14:17; 1 Corinthians 12:4-11
- We believe in the sinfulness of human nature.
Mankind, since his fall in the Garden of Eden, is sinful, and powerless to meet God’s standards by his own efforts.
- Genesis 1:17 ; Genesis 2:17 ; Genesis 6:5
- Psalm 14:1-3 ; Psalm 51:5 ; Jeremiah 17:9
- Romans 3:10-19 ; Romans 3:22-26
- We believe that Jesus Christ paid the penalty for mankind’s sin.
Every person who truly believes in Christ is, by faith, resting on Christ’s finished work on the cross. This is the only righteous ground on which a holy God can forgive man’s sins.
- John 1:12 ; John 3:16, 18, 36
- Romans 1:16-17 ; Romans 3:22, 26
- We believe that the program of God in this age is to build the church of Jesus Christ.
Beginning on the day of Pentecost, all believers in Christ are brought into the church, the body of Christ, and are commissioned to proclaim the gospel worldwide. This local congregation is a small part of that great body and functions autonomously, with Christ as its head governing through a plurality of elders. God has established two church ordinances: believer’s baptism and communion. These are to be exercised within the essential functions of the local church; namely, teaching, fellowship, breaking of bread, and prayer. - Matthew 16:18 ; Acts 2:1-47 ; Acts 14:23
- We believe in the second coming of Christ and His subsequent millennial reign upon the earth.
The imminent return of Christ is the “blessed hope” of the church. This event will precede the day of the Lord and thousand-year messianic kingdom of Christ on earth.
- John 14:1-3 ; 1 Thessalonians 4:13-18 ; Titus 2:11-14
- Matthew 24:15-24 ; Revelation 5:10 ; Revelation 5:10
- We believe in the future resurrection of all mankind and in the last judgment of the unsaved.
At the return of Christ for His church, believers will be raised, glorified, and made immortal. Those who have rejected salvation through Christ will be raised to judgment and the lake of fire for eternity.
- We believe that the term Marriage has only one meaning the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.
- Genesis 2:18-25 ; Matthew 19:4-6
